(Washington, D.C.) — His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will visit Washington, D.C.; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Chicago, Illinois, June 1-3.
This official visit marks the first time the Royal Couple will travel to the United States as His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima. King Willem-Alexander succeeded his mother, Queen Beatrix, to become King of the Netherlands in 2013.
The Netherlands and the United States are bound by a more than 400-year relationship grounded in a commitment to freedom, justice, and entrepreneurship. While in the U.S., the King and Queen will celebrate the strong economic, cultural and political ties between the two nations.
In the economic sector, the Netherlands is a fixture of the top five foreign investors in the United States and is the No. 1 destination for American foreign investments. The Dutch and U.S. economic relationship also supports 685,000 American jobs.
“It’s my pleasure to welcome the Royal Couple on their first visit to the US as King and Queen. Their visit underscores the strong friendship between our two countries,” said Rudolf Bekink, the Dutch ambassador to the US.
More detailed information on the Royal Couple visit will be released shortly.
